I love getting to photograph a family for the first time.  I mean, not my first time with them, but THEIR first time having a family portrait. It blows my mind that this family hadn’t had family pictures before.  I tried to make it as painless as possible, but I needn’t had worried because this family was full of fun and laughter.  First off, they have four adult children, and we got a girlfriend in the mix, too.  Can’t you just tell how much fun they were??

So here is the whole crew.

And here are just the siblings.  The girl is the youngest, she and the brother to the right are both in college, while their oldest brother (far right) is in grad school.  Lots of school going on right now.

Now, I have to tell this story because it is almost unbelievable.  It sounds like something straight from the Hallmark channel.  So…this is the girlfriend.  While they have only been together for a year, they met many years ago, when he was about 13 or 14 at her parent’s dude ranch, Black Mountain Ranch, in Colorado as his family was there on vacation.  The family went back to this dude ranch every year for their vacation.  But their romance did not begin then, though a friendship did.  Fast forward.  She gets accepted to medical school in Illinois.  This time, a friendship blossomed into romance.  Seriously – how cheesy is this?! LOL  Gotta love a story like that.

As you can see, there was no lack of personality with this crew!  This one cracks me up.

We also did individual pictures, as well, but I don’t have the room to share all of them.  But here is the most important – the parents of this crazy group.

Also sharing this one because of the story behind it.  This son has autism.  While he did as asked, he rarely relaxed and gave a natural smile.  But at this point, his brother and sister were behind me doing crazy dances, which got him really and truly smiling for me.  I love the smile, and I love the love of this family!
