Serenity Now | LaGrange Children’s Photographer, Naperville Children’s Photographer

It’s time again for my favorite family!  Why are they my favorite family? Because they started me in this business as my very first clients when big sister was a newborn.  Time has passed, and now the twins are 18 months!  I had originally arrived two weeks prior with a brown backdrop, but the twins were not in good moods that day and were not up for a session.  So we rescheduled and tried out my new backdrop…which I love.  They were in much better spirits, though at 18 months, keeping them on a set is difficult, especially when they want to be held by mommy or daddy.

During this session, there was usually one child crying. LOL  My hat is off to all you parents of twins or multiples.  I was completely worn out after the session. :)  But it was all worth it.

My Mother’s Day | Naperville Children’s Photographer, Naperville Photographer

So all I wanted for Mother’s Day this year was a session for myself of me and my kids.  I had it in my head, and well, it REALLY didn’t turn out as I hoped.  It is so unfair that I can create great images for other people’s families, but not my own.  But this is what I did get.

And also the debut of my new dark hair and bangs. LOL

Gavin | Naperville Newborn Photographer, Naperville Baby Photographer

I had so much fun photographing this new family.  First major plus was that they lived only 10 minutes away, which was nice.  The second big plus was that baby Gavin was seriously one of the calmest newborn’s I’ve ever photographed.  Then third big plus, you wonder?  Baby Gavin was absolutely adorable!

I love it when client’s really appreciate photography.  While for some our images are just something to put on your desk, in an album, they are also little pieces of an artist.  So when a new client finds me months before she is due and emails me ideas and questions until she finally gets to have her newborn session…well, it makes my day.

Congratulations, to this new, beautiful family.

Spring Fever | Naperville Children’s Photographer, Hinsdale Children’s Photographer

After a very cold and gloomy winter and early Spring, we have finally seen the sun!  This was one of the very first sunny days.  Thank goodness the weather permitted for us to be outside!  With twin 20 month olds and a big sister who just turned three, they were ready to adventure.

Being a family photographer, I get to watch as children grown, and I’ve been photographing this family since big sister was 6 months old.  I love seeing them develop into big kids.

Thanks, N Family, for a great spring outing!

Stories of Autism | Chicago Naperville Special Needs Photographer | Naperville Children’s Photographer

Photographing children with special needs is a passion of mine.  Photographing children with autism spectrum disorders is a joy.  Yes, having my own son with Asperger’s Syndrome may make me a bit biased, but I’m going to let you in on a little secret.  There is something profoundly pure and joyful about some of these kids.  Their enthusiasm is unmatched.  Yes there are struggles, and yes, there are those lost in their bodies.  But that is not all kids on the spectrum.  There are many out there like my son, like little Moira here, who are happy, social children.  I am blessed to have such a pure light in my life, and I know Moira’s family feels the same.

I was honored to be contacted by Stories of Autism to photograph little Moira to be part of their work. Stories of Autism is dedicated to heightening autism awareness through the exhibition of its portraits and stories of children and adults on the autism spectrum. The project strives to achieve this through independent exhibitions of its work and by partnering with other organizations whose goals align with this mission. Photographers all over the country took place in photographing children with autism this month, and the galleries are being compiled and should be released at the end of May.  Little Moira here will be there….if I can figure out which picture to submit!

Moiria here is three and a half years old and diagnosed with classic autism and ADHD.  She was having a very good day when I arrived and immediately started saying, “pictures?  pictures?  pictures!” Mom had been prepping her for our session.  While she doesn’t verbally communicate in typical fashion she loved to make animal sounds and pretended to be a bird for most of our time.  She was a ball of energy who never staid put for long… until mom pulled out some bubbles.  She was a blast to work with, and I’m so glad I got to meet her.
