And Action! | Chicago Childrens Photographer

It is a very good thing that this client told me she specifically wanted lifestyle pictures of her five children, because I don’t think we could have done any other sort! LOL  This clan of kids was on the move from the moment they stepped out of the car.  If they look familiar, that is because this was a Part II after our first attempt got called on account of a mosquito barrage.  We tried a different location this time, up by their home in Forest Park.

Lifestyle portraits capture children in their element, as they really are.  No posing here!  From having stick sword fights to chasing ducks in the pond, they were all action!

The only one who would sit still for me was the baby!

But the kids were a hoot and a delight.  I got to heft them up into trees, find things to throw into the pond, and even pull the three year old from the pond!  That’s right!  See that water he is standing right in front of below?  Well, curiosity killed the cat…but only got the toddler’s pants sopping wet. LOL

We ended the session by playing on the playground and had a great time.  Who says pictures have to be boring??

Baking | Naperville – Chicago Childrens Photographer

I got to do some truly lifestyle pictures, sort of like what I would do in a Day in the Life session with Miss Fiona here.  Another model  for the Celebrate Differences calendar, she loves to bake, and I got to capture that.  Fiona is almost six and chatted it up with me like an old friend as she concocted her creation.  She has delayed mylenation, so baking and using her fine motor skills are great skills for her to practice.

Now the funny behind the scenes truth of this series is that the mom and I had agreed on baking as what we would photograph, but the truth is that she didn’t have enough oil to actually make the brownies.  We agreed these would be “just for show”, but Fiona was not in agreement. LOL

After baking, we also got some studio pictures.  Fiona was excited to put on her sparkly blue and green dress and was very interested in my set up, asking what everything was.  The blue backdrop went perfectly with her dress.

Thanks, Fiona, for being so fun!
