Dance Fever | Naperville photographer, Chicago dance photographer, Wheaton photographer

This client first called me early last year wanting pictures of her daughter in the dance costumes she had worn in that year’s competitions and recitals.  For some reason or other, she never booked.   Fast forward several months, and the mother sees my work in her OB office and is expecting.  She said it was “just meant to be”.  I got to photograph 13 year old Mickayla here in my new studio.  The mother requested a backdrop to be used, so we could focus on the costumes and her daughter.  Mickayla is a competitive dancer with The Academy of Dance Arts in Downers Grove and pretty much lives and breathes dance, training and competing in ballet, tap, contemporary, jazz, and modern.  I may have even missed a few. LOL

This session was so fun and different for me.  Being in the studio, I got to finally expand my lighting techniques, and posing was totally new.  I had to rely on mother and daughter for the poses, as my dance knowledge only extends to watching So You Think You Can Dance.;)

Can’t wait to photograph her baby sister in another month!  This post is longer than normal, but it was also a longer than normal session.

Rambunctious | Geneva Photographer, Naperville photographer, Plainfield photographer

I do this as a career – to support my family, to pay bills, to make a living.   And running a business can easily suck the joy out of anything.  But being able to make a mom cry with happiness after seeing her pictures completely makes my day and reminds me why I love my work.  Photographing this family was truly fun, but it is the end result that puts a smile on my face – gorgeous fall pictures of a beautiful family…with some rambunctious little girls.  The younger one makes me think of my own daughter.

I was also excited to try out this beautiful new location, which I have hit up several times since then.;)

Fall Family Fun | Wheaton Children’s Photographer, Naperville children’s photographer

Each client is unique.  I love getting to know them.   This new client decided it was time for them to get their very first family pictures.  You heard that – in five and half years, they had never had professional family pictures done.  Sure, they had pictures of the girls, but why is it parents forget to document themselves as part of their own family history?  I’m so glad I got to do this for them, as they were so much fun!  We were laughing and joking almost the whole time.  It also was a gorgeous fall day.

They wanted to do some pictures at their home but also head to their local park – the girls’ home away from home.  “They live on the swings,” the mom told me. So where better to capture the essence of this beautiful and energetic family?  They wanted some traditional pictures, but mostly to really show their fun side.  I say it was a marked success!

Colton | Wheaton newborn photographer, Naperville newborn photographer, Hinsdale newborn photographer

Little Colton is a lucky baby.  He is greatly adored by his big sister and brother…who I have to say were incredibly beautiful children, and big sis was the most polite thing I have ever met!   I brought all my gear to their home, and as I was getting things set up, their almost three year old boy took a serious liking to my bean bag.  I think I know what someone may be getting for his upcoming birthday. :)

As I set up the below picture, the older two held hands on their own.  I just love the love in this family!  And the blonde hair and brown eyes were so striking!

Now, mom and dad are old hands at this, but I thoroughly enjoyed them.  The first picture below is a typical quiet pose.

But I absolutely love this one as they started laughing at each other.  I forget what I said to get them laughing, but I think this is much more appropriate for them:

Now, let’s meet little Colton, a beautiful 7 day old:

Cody | Naperville senior photographer | Nequa Valley High School

Another great looking senior!  Cody told me “this is for my mom”, but I think he did a great job.  I love showing the coolness of this age, the attitude.  We walked all around, and I think/hope the experience wasn’t too painful for the poor guy.  LOL
