Oh pretty babies – I have been blessed with so many good looking babies as of late! And this 10 day old sweetheart was just gorgeous – I mean, seriously, check out those lips! She was a very calm girl, even though she was awake for a while, she still would just chill. I was very happy when she finally conked hard enough to do the basket shots at the end. And I think grandma got a kick out of watching me pose her. Newborn photography has certainly come a long way since she had her own daughter.
This family holds my current record for farthest travel. They are from California, and I am deeply honored that this is the second time they have sought my services as they visit family in town. This time, it was for their son’s one year pictures. He could stand for a while on his own, but hadn’t really started taking steps on his own … until this day. And as luck would have it, I was actually able to switch to video mode and video some of his first steps! Being one, he didn’t really want to sit still for pictures, and we made the mistake of having my phone playing Pandora where he could see it. That was ALL he wanted. So what to do? Well, give him the darn thing, of course! I would rather have a baby smiling and happy and deal with editing out the phone than have him crying. Is it hard to edit out? Yes, it is very time consuming, but that is why I don’t edit them out until they decide which pictures they want, so I don’t waste time editing it out of every single picture – I would also just use retouchup.com – they rock for such things!
Now, this one is more of an outtake than anything, but his expression cracks me up.
This 13 day old baby girl was just sweet as she could be. Mom brought in some additional stuff, but I ended up buying the bed from her, so I have it for future sessions. I was also excited to use some new backdrops. It was a great session, as you can see. Being a newborn photographer, I love trying new things, so this was very fun for me. Of course, having parents that were cracking me up didn’t hurt, either.
This beautiful newborn baby girl was so sweet and is truly a gorgeous newborn. I love the richness of my new red backdrop – perfect for a boy or girl. She also looked great in the basket. Doesn’t she have perfect little lips?
This little guy arrived earlier than expected. Four weeks early, in fact. When I met him, he was two weeks old, but that still only put him at 38 weeks gestation. He was great and sleepy and just a peanut. His big brother is only 14 months old, but he was also full of smiles for me this day – which was great since his 12 month session he wasn’t so happy. Apparently me saying Ho, Ho, Ho in a low voice worked.
The parents brought in the sleigh and present props. I love the colors here. And check out his huge smile.
His great-grandmother was also in town to help out. Doesn’t she look great?
This little guy’s bedroom is decorated with Chicago sports pictures. So dad brought in a Chicago Bears helmet. This is my first baby in a helmet picture.
