My first magazine cover publication | Naperville – Chicago child photographer

I’ve been waiting for the electronic file in order to share this with you.  I found out in November that one of my images was selected to be the cover for this issue of the international magazine, Autism File.  It is my first magazine cover, so I’m very excited.  Hopefully, it is only the first of many!

Autism Hope Alliance 2011 Calendar

I just received the official notice about Autism File Magazine’s collaboration with Autism Hope Alliance for their 2011 calendar – Autism Mothers Unite Worldwide.  Looks whose photo is on the cover! YAY.  I want to again thank the Naperville Mom’s of Autism meetup group for contacting me to photograph them.  If you missed the story behind it, you can read about it HERE.

And because this photo is different than my standard, I’m reposting it.  It certainly got a ton of comments the first time and was also my debut of the “red couch”.  If you signed up for a Red Couch mini session, now you can see why I love it so much.

Way to go, ladies, for your courage and determination.  And heartfelt high fives and hugs to all parents of special needs children.

Warrior Moms | Chicago Special Needs Photographer

I was honored to be contacted to photograph this group of women for the international magazine, Autism File’s, first calendar.  In the past, this magazine has done an annual cover celebrating mothers of autism, and each year, the mothers are wearing black dresses.  It is their theme.  With their first calendar, they are having different groups of mothers in their black dresses.  This local group of women all have at least one child with autism, some with more.  They are warrior moms who are constantly fighting for their children.  While most parents do have to occasionally go into momma bear mode when their child is picked on or experiences one of life’s small injustices, these mothers have to fight all the time – fight the schools, doctors, insurance, society – because no one else will.  This group of beautiful and amazing women were wonderful to photograph.

Meet the warrior moms, ready to protect their children.  Ready to fight for them.

Thank you for letting me capture this for you.
