What to Expect

If you are at my site, you probably already know that a custom photographer is the right choice for your family. Many of my clients come to me frustrated with the assembly line, mass-produced feel that they have received from chain store studios. They want a more personalized, unique approach to their family’s memories. That is where working with a custom photographer comes in.

Firefly Nights Photography is a custom photography studio, which provides for a very personal experience. Custom photography is about creating a relationship with your family, as I will be watching your children grow through the years. It is about providing devoted 1:1 attention without worry of the next ‘in line’ or the feeling of a crowded portrait studio. It is knowing you will receive beautiful and unique pieces of art as opposed to the same pose as everyone else.

I do not believe in having every client do an assembly line of preplanned poses. Being a custom photographer means you will have an experience unlike any chain studio can provide. Not only will the quality of the work be superior, but I take the time to get to know you and your children, find out what you really like and how that fits with my own aesthetic style. There is no rush to my sessions, and no pressure on children to “perform”. My approach, instead, is to capture your children being themselves. While I can provide backdrops and a studio set up, I also enjoy providing lifestyle portraits which are a beautiful way to display the natural love, tenderness, and interaction of a family.

My services include a studio session or specific location, use of my backdrops and props, photography session, and many hours of post processing. For location shoots, you will be expected to pay my expenses for any entrance fees, parking fees, or required permits.

After taking as many shots as the shoot allows, I select the best pictures (which may range from 20 to 40) to post process, turning each picture into art. Every single image that you will see has been enhanced to turn it from a “picture” to “art”. There are no additional fees for this customization, as it is at the heart of my services.

Approximately two weeks after your session, you will return to the studio to have your first look at your images and walk through all of my product options. Your gallery will be provided online on my site for three days after this meeting. Your order is due at that time. There is a rehosting fee if you need to have your gallery up for more than three days. I also provide design assistance to display your photographs in the most aesthetic ways. Your electronic slideshow put to music will remain active for two weeks to share with friends and family.
