This is the first family who has traveled to me in order to have a session with me. I was humbled. Found me on Facebook and became fans. They traveled all the way from Norway!! That’s right…well…sort of. They traveled from Norway, Michigan in the UP.
But still, it was a six hour drive, and I was honored that they liked my work so much. We had scheduled an early evening session, but unfortunately, little Nolan had fallen asleep in the car and had to be woken up when they pulled into the parking lot. That did not start things off on a good foot with him.
He was tired and cranky and really didn’t want to have his pictures taken, but I’ve learned that even the grumpiest kids can’t resist throwing rocks from a bridge. As long as I didn’t try to make him stand still and smile, he was good to go. Isn’t he a gorgeous kid? You would never know he just wanted to go home.
As we walked through the woods, he asked if there were any bears, because if there were, he was going to punch them. LOL What a boy!
And another reason for this session was that they had never had family portraits done. I wanted to give them something special while still letting Nolan be himself.
